Dr. Gavin Stuart is a professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of British Columbia (UBC). He served as the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at UBC from 2003 to 2015 and as UBC’s Vice-Provost Health from 2009 to 2016. He has previously been Chair of the Gynecologic Cancer Intergroup (an international clinical trials consortium), Chair of the Board of the Association of Faculties of Medicine of Canada, Co-Chair of the Gynecology Site Committee of the NCI Canada and President of the Society of Gynecologic Oncology of Canada.

Dr. Stuart received his undergraduate and postgraduate medical training at the University of Western Ontario and pursued further fellowship training in Gynecologic Oncology at Wayne State University in Detroit, where he stayed on as a faculty member prior to moving to Calgary for 20 years and before moving to UBC in 2003. He completed executive leadership training at the Ivey School of Business. He has published widely in the peer-viewed literature as well as written several books. He remains as an active teacher, clinician and researcher at UBC, working with the gynecologic oncology team at Vancouver General Hospital and BC Cancer. He has held a number of leadership positions in health care and health care management. He also serves as a Board Director for a number of public and private entities. He is a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences.
