How childhood days spent with his father led to working on the largest hospital redevelopment project at VCH

​Sam McLeod is a Project Manager with the Richmond Hospital Redevelopment Project. Ever since moving from a small town in Saskatchewan to Vancouver over 20 years ago, his contributions to maintain and improve Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) buildings have been extensive. Now, almost a year into his role, he is excited for what comes next on this 10-year project. This is his story.

Indigenous doulas improve cultural safety and access to reproductive care

​Indigenous doulas play a crucial role in providing culturally appropriate support to Indigenous women, Two-Spirit, trans and gender diverse people during the perinatal period and beyond. Serving as strategic leads on doula care at Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH), Danette Jubinville and Olivia Louie are two such doulas who are bringing this role back.

Her heart matters: New report shows risks to women’s heart health

A new Heart & Stroke report shares that gaps in awareness, research, diagnosis and care threaten women's heart and brain health. Heart disease and stroke claimed the lives of 32,271 women in Canada in 2019 – one woman's life every 16 minutes.
