Long-term care provides professional care and supervision to adults in a supportive and secure environment. The services are available to people with complex care needs or conditions who cannot live safely and independently at home.

Hours of operation
The Emergency Department is open 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., seven days a week.
Visiting hours may vary depending on the unit. Please call the UBC Hospital main line at (604) 822-7121 to determine visiting times before your visit.

Room and building
Purdy Pavilion has a library, sacred space, outdoor garden and patio. Residents and families are encouraged to participate in the growth of Purdy through involvement in the Resident Council, Family Council, and the committees active in the home. Most rooms have shared accommodation. Nutritious meals including therapeutic diets are personalized as possible to suit individual special needs and preferences.
Language, culture, religious affiliations
Interpreter services are available, and English is the main language used by staff. Purdy Pavilion welcomes all linguistic, cultural, and religious affiliations.
Special recreation opportunities
Recreational programming is provided for residents seven days a week . These take place in all areas of the building and the surrounding outdoor garden space. The Recreation Department offers large and small group activities along with one-to-one support. Additionally, the Purdy bus is used for outings and scenic drives.
Rehab services
The Physiotherapy Department offers maintenance of mobility status through Ambulation, Stationary Bicycle and Seated Group Exercise programs provided Monday through Fridays.
The Occupational Therapy Department provides assessment and intervention regarding wheelchair needs, pressure redistributing surfaces, and enablement of participation in daily activities as appropriate.
Accessibility
Care home and rooms are all wheelchair accessible. Power wheelchairs are permitted following a safe driving assessment. Residents may be required to purchase speciality equipment (eg. specialized wheelchair).
Safety and security features
Elevators service Purdy Pavilion. Alert bracelets are provided for residents who may wander. These will demobilise the elevator. However, while stairs are “alarmed”, they are not locked. Sprinklers are in place throughout common areas as well as in resident rooms. The premises are patrolled by security 24 hours a day.
Neighbourhood and community
Purdy is served by a number of bus lines to and from the UBC campus. The campus amenities include the botanical gardens, Pacific Spirit Park, Nitobe Garden, Chan Centre, Museum of Anthropology, Beatty Biodiversity Museum, and the University Village.
