The Cedarview Lodge Overnight Respite Program offers caregiver relief. We offer your loved one an opportunity to stay with us while you have a brief period of rest and relief so that you can continue to provide good care upon their return.

What to expect

Services available:

  • Nursing care
  • Wound care
  • Special diets
  • Medication management
  • Opportunity to socialize and access group activities

Two days minimum stay for both initial and subsequent stays. 

Clients are welcome to stay a maximum of 30 days in a calendar year. Clients should bring their own wheelchair or walker for use during their respite stay. Please notify your Case Manager of any changes to your care needs or contact information or prior to booking subsequent stays.

Payment process

Clients pay for their stay upon admission. There may be additional charges for the following:

  • Pharmacy will invoice for medications dispensed during your respite stay
  • A client trust account pre-authorizing a fixed amount of debit can be set up for hairdressing and podiatry services

Check in and check out information

Admissions can occur any day of the week. They will be scheduled at either 11:00 AM or 1:00 PM to facilitate “same day” admissions/discharges. Discharges are always at 9:00 a.m.

How to access

  • Check eligibility

    • Adults living in a Coastal Community of Care who are currently being cared for at home
    • Caregivers in need of temporary relief from the demands of caring for a friend or relative
    • Clients assessed by a VCH Home and Community Care Case Manager
    • Clients who are medically stable

    Note: Caregivers making travel or vacation plans should consider cancellation insurance or have an alternative plan and contact person in the event the client’s condition deteriorates or becomes unstable and they are no longer eligible for a respite bed.

    For clients new to Overnight Respite, please contact your VCH Home Health Case Manager

    For clients who do not have a Case Manager, please call Central Community Health Center at 604-983-6700.

How to get here

Lodge is a licensed care home (part of Vancouver Coastal Health) located in a quiet residential area in North Vancouver near Eastview Elementary School. The nearest bus stop on Mountain Hwy at Kirkstone Road is a pleasant 8-minute walk to the home. Parking is free and available for all visitors and staff.

Cedarview Lodge

Cedarview Lodge is a two-storey, wooden building with three nursing units located in a quiet, treed cul-de-sac and has large enclosed gardens and courtyards.
