​Hospital admissions can be accessed in a number of ways and require a psychiatric assessment.

  • Segal Inpatient Units

    Joseph & Rosalie Segal & Family Health Centre - Mental Health & Substance Use Inpatient
    Level 5 to 8 - 803 West 12th Ave. 

    75 beds focused on clients who require longer-term, intensive treatment to return to their community. The length of stay is approximately five to 12 days.

  • Psychiatric Assessment Unit (PAU)

    14-bed short stay unit focused on clients who require short-term, intensive treatment to return to their community. The length of stay is approximately three days.

  • Psychiatric Emergency Assessment & Triage (PEAT)

    A co-managed space in the VGH Emergency Department (ED) for assessing and triaging ED patients who present with mental health and substance use conditions.

  • Psychiatry Consultation Clinic

    Gordon & Leslie Diamond Health Care Centre
    Level 8 - 2775 Laurel Street, Vancouver

    The Psychiatry Consultation Clinic services the needs of the inpatient units in Medical/Surgical wards. The Physicians will request a consultation from our program to determine whether the admitted patient is currently dealing with a mental health problem.

    A referral through the attending physician is required. The clinic is open Monday to Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
