The Silverstone Care Centre Overnight Respite Program provides caregiver relief. We offer your loved one an opportunity to stay with us while you have a brief period of rest and relief so that you can continue to provide good care upon their return.
What to expect
Services available:
- Nursing care
- Wound care
- Special diets
- Medication management
- Opportunity to socialize and access group activities
Two days minimum stay for both initial and subsequent stays.
Clients are welcome to stay a maximum of 30 days in a calendar year. Clients should bring their own wheelchair or walker for use during their respite stay. Please notify your Case Manager of any changes to your care needs or contact information prior to booking subsequent stays.
Check in and check out information
Clients generally check in between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. and check out by 10 a.m.
Times can be flexible to accommodate work commitments and other scheduling needs
Payment process
Clients pay for their stay upon admission. There may be additional charges for the following:
- Pharmacy will invoice for medications dispensed during your respite stay
- A client trust account pre-authorizing a fixed amount of debit can be set up for hairdressing and podiatry services
How to access

Check eligibility
- Adults living in a Coastal Community of Care who are currently being cared for at home
- Caregivers in need of temporary relief from the demands of caring for a friend or relative
- Clients assessed by a VCH Home and Community Care Case Manager
- Clients who are medically stable
Note: Caregivers making travel or vacation plans should consider cancellation insurance or have an alternative plan and contact person in the event the client’s condition deteriorates or becomes unstable and they are no longer eligible for a respite bed.

For clients new to Overnight Respite, please contact your VCH Home and Community Care Case Manager. For clients who do not have a Case Manager, please call the Sechelt Home and Community Care access line at 604-714-0726.

How to get here
Silverstone Care Centre is a modern 128-bed long-term care home that opened in January 2024 and operates under contract with Vancouver Coastal Health. It is in beautiful Sechelt on the Sunshine Coast with many services and amenities nearby. Six visitor parking spots are available. There is additional parking in the side lot. Street parking is available nearby.
