VCH begins next phase of community engagement on the future of health services at Sechelt | shíshálh Hospital
Vancouver, B.C. – Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) is beginning the next phase of engagement for Health Vision Sechelt | shíshálh Hospital, a high-level planning process to help ensure the hospital campus continues to meet the evolving health-care needs of the local community and Lower Sunshine Coast region.
As part of the planning process, which first launched in April 2024, VCH has developed a draft clinical services plan for the hospital campus, based on historical data and trends, industry best practices, population projections and input from the community, First Nations, as well as staff and medical staff. Health Vision Sechelt | shíshálh Hospital will also include a facility assessment and site plan.
Once finalized, these plans will serve as a roadmap for future health-care services at the hospital, including future space and infrastructure requirements.
Moving forward, VCH will work with the B.C. Government and other relevant partners to further coordinate, engage and advance the recommendations outlined in Health Vision Sechelt | shíshálh Hospital, as appropriate.
Community Engagement Sessions
VCH is inviting Lower Sunshine Coast communities to attend drop-in engagement sessions in Sechelt, Madeira Park and Gibsons to learn more about what was heard during previous engagement, review key details from the draft clinical services plan, as well as ask questions and provide feedback. For those unable to join in-person, there will be a virtual engagement session offered, as well.
