An Electroencephalogram (EEG) is a type of test that uses small sensors attached to the scalp to measure the electrical activity of the brain. This can help doctors diagnose epilepsy and other brain disorders.
The EEG labs at Lions Gate Hospital provides support for inpatient and outpatient electrophysiological, diagnostic and consultative services contributing to the accurate diagnosis and care of a variety of neurophysiological diseases for residents of the North Shore and Coastal Community of care. Our team of specialists includes neurologists, electromyography (EMG) technologists, electroencephalogram technologists, and dedicated clerical staff.
What to expect
Discs will be attached to your scalp using a special adhesive. After the sensors are attached, an EEG test can take between 60 to 120 minutes to complete depending on the type of EEG test you are receiving.
