Improving care for seniors at the new Villa Cathay Care Home

Vancouver, BC – More than 100 Vancouver seniors are starting off the new year in a new home. Phase 1 of the Villa Cathay Care home expansion is complete and the project is taking another major step forward with the launch of the second phase of construction to provide care for even more seniors.

Non-medical use of laughing gas no laughing matter

Vancouver, BC – An emergency physician at Richmond Hospital is issuing a warning about the dangers associated with inhaling nitrous oxide. The drug is used in medical and dental settings for sedation and pain. But some teens and young adults inhale it from small canisters known as "whippits" to get high.

Downtown Eastside clinics provide drug-free options for chronic pain management

Vancouver, BC – Vancouver resident Kim Williams has been living with chronic pain for years: degenerative bone disease in her spine, fibromyalgia, damaged cartilage in her knees and lingering issues after recovery from a broken neck. Thanks to a first-of-its-kind pilot program in the Downtown Eastside that offers physiotherapy, individual and group counselling and other treatments, Williams is now getting stronger and learning to manage her pain without the use of opioids or any pain medication.
