Empowering Indigenous talent with meaningful career opportunities

Indigenous Health team members work with staff and medical staff across all programs and departments to provide strategic leadership, partner collaboration and community engagement to assist VCH to become a more culturally competent and safe organization. 

The team supports VCH in its commitment to partner with First Nations, Métis and Inuit, build a health system that honours Indigenous worldview, traditional health and wellness practices and provides culturally safe services, ensure culturally safe care is provided and offer opportunities for educational workshops and learning.

We strive to provide equitable access to health services and improved health and wellness outcomes for 14 First Nation communities within the Vancouver Coastal Health region. We are always learning so our aim is to work collaboratively to address health challenges to move toward reconciliation. And we do this working in collaboration with community Elders, First Nations, Métis and Inuit as well as First Nations Health Authority (FNHA).

Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) honours its commitment to supporting the journey of reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples in our region.
