All VCH vaccination clinics now welcome drop-in first dose appointments

Vancouver, B.C. – Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) today announced that starting on 30 June, 2021, all vaccination clinics in our region will welcome drop-in appointments for individuals eligible for their first dose. Eligible people aged 12 and older who haven't received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine, can book an appointment or drop-in to a clinic location most convenient for them. VCH vaccination clinics are listed on our website including locations and hours of operation.

Vancouver, B.C. – As a heat warning remains in place across B.C., Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) continues to encourage residents in our region to take precautions to stay safe. There are a number of measures people can take to cope with the current warm weather, including;

Vancouver Coastal Health postpones appointments at two COVID-19 vaccination clinics and temporarily closes test collection

Vancouver, B.C. – As B.C. continues to experience a period of extreme heat, Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) is closely monitoring the conditions at all of our COVID-19 vaccination clinics and test collection sites. Due to elevated temperatures at some clinical sites, VCH has postponed all appointments today at our West End Community Centre vaccination clinic and at the Vancouver Community College clinic, effective as of 1:00p.m. VCH's Vincent's testing site will also temporarily close today due to the current weather conditions, effective as of 11:30a.m.

Extreme Heat Alert

LOWER MAINLAND, B.C. – As heat continues to build in the Lower Mainland, the Heat Warning issued by Environment Canada has now been escalated to an Extreme Heat Alert. Record-high temperatures expected in the Lower Mainland tomorrow will continue until at least Tuesday, June 29, 2021, with daytime highs ranging from 29 to 39 degrees celsius combined with overnight lows of 18 to 21 degrees celsius. Humidex values during this period will reach the high 30s to possibly the low 40s. High temperatures are historically associated with an increase in deaths among Lower Mainland residents.

Vancouver Coastal Health declares COVID-19 outbreak at Hollyburn House

Vancouver, B.C. – A COVID-19 outbreak has been declared in The Care Centre at Hollyburn House, a licensed long-term care unit located within Hollyburn House in West Vancouver, after one resident and one staff member tested positive for COVID-19. The outbreak is contained to the long-term care unit; the assisted living and independent living areas of the facility are not impacted.

Vancouver, B.C. - The Treatment Optimization of Psychosis (TOP) Collaborative, launching today, is a quality improvement (QI) initiative led by the BC Centre for Excellence in HIV/AIDS (BC-CfE) in partnership with Vancouver Coastal Health’s (VCH) Mental Health and Substance Use Services.
